It is always a good idea to put a painting that you think is 'finished' in a place where you unexpectedly come across it. Often you will find that a little something extra is required to really bring it to the final stage.
A CONVERSATION WITH MYSELF 12" x12" acrylics on stretched canvas
This happened with the above, which I now feel is finished, when compared to the image below.
Subtle, but I think absolutely necessary. Does anyone agree?
oooh yes! I keep scrolling back and forth between them to pick up on all the nuances. so much more depth and life to the the finished painting. lovely!
Yes, I agree too. I am doing the same thing with my work for the upcoming show at 'Rosebed St'. I agree also with Nancy - when do you stop 'finishing' - for me it may be the day I hang them up!!!
The changes in tones and smoothing of markings has given it a harmonious feel. Very appealing to the eye, makes for a soothing transition as your eye travels the piece.
You are SO right. It's so much improved. I love them both. I think this color palette makes me happy. But I never thought about putting it somewhere unexpected. After looking at it for so long, that is just what one needs! Out of context!
