Remember this?
The 'Forest' painting sat in my library for a month after its last showing. I was not happy with it at all. Every time I walked by, it whispered to me....."too much green". Back to the studio it went.
Adding some colour was fun, and certainly an improvement, but I can still see problems with it.
I think I'll keep on working over it until the voice over my shoulder says STOP!
Am loving the many layers so far......
Glad I got to see the "before" while touring your studio last week. I thought it looked finished then, but I really DO like the addition of these colors. The "flying" creatures are lovely additions. Although I like it right now, I can tell it will tell you when it's finished!
ReplyDeleteI do like the added blue at the bottom. be careful with the yellows., says she who really doesn't paint !
ReplyDeleteYou certainly pulled out alot of light in this painting. I shall wait to see what the voice has to say. xox
ReplyDeleteI do like the different shades of blue and turquoise that you've added at the bottom of the painting...now it looks so vibrant and lively. Beautiful, Jo!
ReplyDeleteThe blues and yellows you added have added so much vibrancy and life to your painting.
ReplyDeleteJo - it's becoming luminous - love the depth the blue and yellow bring - wow - hard to know when something is finished I know but it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the additional colors Jo!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the added colors! isn't it wonderful when the art speaks to you and tells you what it needs? Even though the greens were beautiful, the added colors have made this painting! Brilliant Jo!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the fact that you are free enough to work over a "completed" painting. And it is always fun to see the process of creation. I will be curious to see if there is another step in the process.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, I especially love just left of center and the bits of violet you added to the trees. I want to paint more but I always seem to get side-tracked by other objects. Thinking I might be "scared" to throw myself into just painting. Don't mind the self-analysis. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhen on vacation last week and hiking in Whistler, BC, I certainly saw plenty of forests that were as green as your painting - in fact you could have been looking over my shoulder. However, the addition of the blues adds a grounding and a sense of mystery that it didn't have before. I like the sun dappled feeling at the top sinking to the depths of a quiet and mysterious forest.....so evocative!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'll be signing up for Jane's Jan class too as soon as I finish all the vacation laundry! :)
Wouldn't I just Love having a "problem" like you've created dear Jo!
ReplyDeleteThe layers are brilliant and the touches of other colors really draw me in.
Happy October to you!

I love the extra colours you've added to this. I always keep working on things, adding here and there, until the little voice says STOP! x
ReplyDeleteLove seeing this piece as it progresses... the layers are stunning!
