Summer Of Colours - Yellow

Here we are again... the weeks are flying and we are halfway through the Summer Of Colours. Kristin has posted this week's colour, yellow, and a more summery colour would be hard to find. As always I have a mixed bag , but first is a very Australian summer image to kick-start my collection.

We are so lucky in this country to have such fabulous beaches, often with very few people.

Next image is a painting, inspired by my garden.  I love nasturtiums, and they ramble everywhere.  I often pick both leaves and flowers to add to salads.

JUST VISITING - acrylic on canvas, 45 x 45 cm

Of course, I often leave out my pottery... so here's a teapot that I called 'A Handy Little Teapot'.

AND... for all those Adobe Photoshoppers out there I've really gone mad with the summer theme.

SUMMER SUN
I reckon that'll do me for this one, tho' I could go on, and on, interminably.

Forests

I usually enter work in the Noosa Country Show each year.  Although it's a quiet little show I have sold work there in the past which is incentive enough to enter.

Of course it is not a 'professional' hanging space, but the local squash court. However, the volunteers do very well arranging the work,  considering the facilities.

This year the theme is 'Forests', so each section has to be work in this theme. Although somewhat restrictive I'm hoping to have 2 x acrylics, 2 x mixed media, and perhaps one or two drawings done.

The show opening date is not until September but, since I'll be away for two weeks in August, am already working on it.  Some of my paintings are reworked previous pieces, but some entirely new.

This one is a new mixed media work, using ink, charcoal, and pastel.

In The Forest

It's about 12 x 16 inches (why do I constantly go from cms. to inches?)... matted and framed under glass.

All The King's Horses.....

The weekly challenge at Inspiration Avenue  is 'Nursery Rhymes'.  Thought I'd continue on with Adobe Photoshop while I'm on a roll.

All The King's Horses

Probably not a 'childish' image but then, as someone in the challenge has already pointed out, nursery rhymes are not the innocent little ditties they are presumed to be.

Summer Of Colour - Pink

We're through another week... where's it gone?  Summer Of Color  (Kristin's American spelling) this week is PINK.  Not my favourite colour for using in art, although I have, on occasion.

I am fortunate to have a fabulous view of sunsets from my kitchen window and deck, and often they are incredibly pink.  Such as....

... that inspired this  (although not my best work).

View From The Deck

The garden also has some wonderful pinks.

My favourite oleander
However, pink lends itself more to jewellery and beads...

So, I guess there's a certain amount of inspiration in 'pink'.

Technology Familiarisation

As you can see I've been mucking around with the blog. This is all still relatively new to me so be patient. I'm trying out all the gadgets, widgets, whatever, in order to make access to my work more 'user-friendly'. Don't you just love all these buzzwords that the new age has thrown at us (NOT!).

It took me ages to come to grips with Adobe Photoshop too, but I think I have it working for me now, as the following might indicate.

GLASSHOUSE MOUNTAINS

WINDOW DRESSING

MAGNOLIAS

TECHNOLOGY
Am still only using basic controls but practising, practising, practising.  All my images are based on photos I've taken myself, so at least they're original.

The 60's - Was It All Fun?

This week's Scrapiteria challenge is "The 60's".  It seems we all remember 'flower power', etc., but there was more to the 60's than just that.

Food for thought?

Another Summer Challenge!

Doing these 'summer' challenges is very therapeutic. While I'm sitting here shivering, you lucky people on the other side of the world are swimming and picnicking.

Well, we do have those things  when YOU are knee deep in snow. Note the following...

R soaking up some sun.

However, for the Inspiration Avenue 'Summer' challenge I have done this....

"Absorbed" - Photoshop

...and this...

Yellow mother of pearl, and glass pearls... summery colours.

Might still do a 'summer' collage if I can find some extra time.
