Photography projects are taking up a little time lately....not least my 'In The Picture' monthly challenge set by Urban Muser . This month we are to 'shake it out'. There has to be some movement in the shot.
I'm not very good at this, and don't possess a tripod, so I set up my camera on a bench outside my studio, pointed it down the garden, focussed it on 'infinity', set the 10 sec. delay....
...then danced around the garden like a mad woman, trailing my favourite red pashmina. The neighbours must've been impressed.
... and naturally couldn't resist a little photoshopping, like the first photo, and this.
It all felt very strange, but certainly made me think more about the process of taking a photo. Perhaps I'll investigate all the functions of the camera now.
Lovely photos of you experimenting and having fun.
ReplyDeleteI love your choice of colors--red and blue.
beautiful! I love this and what fun!!!
ReplyDeleteHow COOL! I love this, and I love the photoshop work you've done!
ReplyDelete(I bet a neighbor or two have photos for themselves... hehe)
Oh I wish I could have been there with you experimenting with our cameras. There are so many functions on my camera that I haven't tried yet! I bought my tripod for $2 at a thrift shop.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with this challenge. I haven't tried it yet, but you're giving me some inspiration.

ReplyDeletebeautiful colors & images! thanks for stopping by my blog earlier...& yes, this project is definitely helping us all think differently about portraits, push our comfort zones, & use our cameras in so many different ways! i hope you are enjoying this journey as much as i am!
ReplyDeleteOh, the things we do just for a great shot. I often wonder what people around me are thinking when I take the photos that I do too. Great shots - it looks like you were enjoying yourself!
ReplyDeleteOh my - look at you being all brave and silly (and not with a paintbrush!) These are so great, definitely filled with motion and fun and I love that you chose the red to highlight the motion. You should be proud of these...and with no tripod...amazing! Lots of running back and forth between shots, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAlso have to say I love your wedding shots - it looks like the couple will have lots of gorgeous ones to remember their day. That one of the flower girl is totally adorable and so well captured! Good on you!
How fun and free! I love it...it is so fun to experiment with taking photos~ :D
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job with the wedding in the previous post. I was really impressed. I've never owned a DSLR, only two SLRs from days gone by. I think your photos this time are pretty awesome, too. I really like the realistic ones and the surreal ones. You have mastered a few things on that camera, I can tell!!
ReplyDeleteYou really did a great job. Mine are so mundane to the ones like yours I have been commenting on tonight. Have bought a tripod, so maybe I will get outside and give it a try....the flying pashmina is lovely. genie
